Artist/Teacher Institute
My blog began 8/08/08 in aTi (Artist/Teacher Institute) & highlights my re-ignited passion for art. When completed, it will include more of my paintings; poetry etc. creative writings; + creative movement choreographies & other dances stemming from those aTi experiences, my artistic family roots,... It's also a testament to the love of my family & value of art therapy. See, I won these art scholarships out of need for healing...So... begin by reading from right...

Dear D.J.,
This letter is to confirm the acceptance of your fellowship in the Artist/Teacher Institute’s 2009 Teacher Fellows Program, an initiative of the NJ Artist/Teacher Institute funded by the Dodge Foundation. Your active participation in the first year of this prestigious fellowship program called “aTimpact” will document how your participation at aTi has impacted your teaching and students. As an aTi participant, you were selected based on your accomplishments at aTi, dedication to documentation and reflection, commitment to arts-in-education curriculum, aTi instructor nominations and educational community.
You will join a distinguished group of nine other fellows who represent a variety of subject areas, grade levels and schools throughout the state of New Jersey. Together, you will envision and create a best practices guide with expert guidance from renowned education evaluators, teaching artists, and aTi alumni. Your work will help build a model for other teachers and schools to use in their arts-in-education curriculum. It will be available to the larger community of New Jersey teachers, administrators and artists in a variety of media formats demonstrating the positive impact of aTi and highlighting how you integrate the arts into your development as a teacher for enhanced student learning.
As an aTimpact Fellow, your out-of-school time participation will include:
· A full scholarship to attend the Artist/Teacher Institute summer 2009 where you will take a hands-on arts workshop and participate in the aTimpact Fellows workshop while earning 60 NJ Professional Development Credits.
· Participation in roundtable discussions with other aTimpact Fellows, school administrators, arts specialists and education evaluators.
I look forward to working with you and transforming the role of the arts in education in NJ! An announcement of your fellowship has been sent to your school principal and district superintendent to let them know of this distinguished honor.
Sincerely,
Jenifer Simon
